Barbados - Live the Dream
Barbados is charm, warmth and relaxation all in one.
I am just back from Barbados and am delighted to report that in Barbados you'll find outstanding value, friendly locals and lots to do at a fun and safe destination!
The island's classic British-influenced culture is evident, with polo matches, high tea and colonial architecture. You'll love the coral sandy beaches, soca, calypso, and incredible food and drink, especially Barbados rum.
Many Caribbean islands have beaches, but where Barbados differs is what
lies behind the surf and sand. No matter your budget or style, you can
find a place to stay that suits you, whether cheap, funky, restful or
posh. Half a million people can’t be wrong. That’s the number of
visitors Barbados attracts annually, and it doesn’t take long before you
see why they come by the planeload: the coasts are ringed by the kinds
of azure-water and white-sand visions that fuel the fantasies of Canadians, Brits, Europeans and
Americans stuck shivering away in some snowy winter clime.
There is just so much to do – so many treasures to uncover - as you soak up the warmth and enjoy the comforts of our beautiful island. Land lubbers and seafarers alike can have their pick of surf and turf activities appropriate for all ages and stages of calm or daredevil delight!
Singles, lovers, friends and families also have rich and plentiful options to choose from. Whether you want to swim or sunbathe, party and play hard or enjoy art, culture and cuisine at its best, its right here waiting for you.
Barbados is more than wonderful beaches - so much more! Take in the local festivals, sporting activities, restaurants, great nightlife and relaxation too.
With a population of about 110,000, Bridgetown is the island's largest and most vibrant city! After all, it is the capital and commercial centre of Barbados. Steeped in rich history and culture, Bridgetown today reflects a mix of the old and the new, with historic sites and buildings sitting amongst modern structures like multi-storey offices, financial institutions and shopping malls.
There is almost always activity in this lively city, as locals and visitors alike go about their business and partake in the diverse shopping, dining and cultural experiences Bridgetown offers. Pleasure craft like yachts, catamarans and fishing boats conveniently dock right in the heart of the city. Visitors will also appreciate the abundance of duty free shopping opportunities available in Bridgetown, as well as the local charm the city brings.
